What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are small, titanium posts used to replace missing teeth. There are several types of implants, depending on the patient's needs. An assessment is needed to find out if the patient is a good candidate for implants. This procedure takes a few weeks from the first consultation to its completion.
Types of Dental Implants
There are three main types of affordable dental implants. These are generally classified according to their complexity of completion.
- Single tooth implant: Most often, a dental implant is used to replace a single missing tooth. It requires one post and one crown.
- Subperiosteal: The next best choice to endosteal, this type of implant is used if there are minimal issues as far as the jawbone is concerned.
- Implant Bridge: When you have multiple missing teeth adjacent to each other, you may find your best option is an implant-supported bridge.
- Implant-retain denture: If you are missing a majority or all of your teeth in an arch (upper or lower), then an implant-retained denture may be your best option.
How to Take Care of Implants
This is similar to your usual oral hygiene and dental care in La Mesa. Brush your teeth regularly, avoid using straws if possible, and floss in between teeth after brushing.
